Together with Roosevelt University and several Chicago-area businesses, the Illinois State Crime Commission helps U.S. military veterans find employment and internships upon returning home. Several barriers often impede a service member’s return to civilian society. The traumas they experienced often make it difficult to function normally after returning home. Additional support offered when these veterans are most vulnerable can make the difference between the isolation of unemployment and successful reintegration into the community.
The Illinois State Crime Commission helps connect veterans with openings they are most qualified for and assists in setting up interviews. The commission also has provided support to veterans wanting to establish their own business, has organized job fairs, and has offered educational opportunities to veterans at no cost.
