Since 1959, the Jesse White Tumblers have provided kids living in the inner-city with a positive activity that keeps them away from gangs, alcohol, and drugs. The program is open to boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 16 who have basic tumbling skills and at least a C average in school. All interested individuals must attend tryouts with a parent or guardian if they want to participate in the Jesse White Tumblers’ program.
Based on tryouts, selected boys and girls are placed in the Jesse White Tumbling Team Training Program. This program improves the tumbling skills of every participant and introduces boys and girls to the organization’s philosophy and rules. There is no cost to participate in the training program, but participants can be removed from the program if they have more than three unexcused absences or violate the program’s rules and regulations.
The Jesse White Tumblers also offers a Jesse White Tutoring Program for trainees who fall below the required C average in their academic work. Kids who do not attend the tutoring program must prove that they are enrolled and attending another tutoring program if they want to continue as trainees with the organization.
